Promotion of sustainable agriculture is another key activity, in which, organisation demonstrated a model called NPM ( Non -Pesticidal Management) on cotton and other crops. It is to help the farmers to come out of the debt trap and to stop suicides, SECURE established one village PUNUKULA in Palvoncha Mandal as pesticide free, the Honourable state Agricultural minister of State Sri. N. Raghu Veera Reddy has visited the village and recognized it as a model for upscaling. The government of Andhra Pradesh started upscaling the programme in 17 Districts with its mainstream rural development programme IKP (Indira Kranthi Patham), formerly known as VELUGU, a project of SERP. SECURE is lead NGO in Khammam District, coordinating with DRDA, MMS (Mandal Mahila Samkhya)s and upscaling the NPM programme in 18 Mandals, with 4 other NGOs.
Improving livelihoods by strengthening Traditional Milk Marketing sector
SECURE has also been involved in action research on issues in Traditional Milk Marketing Sector, with the support and guidance of CMS Bangalore for the last few months. This action research programme has been initiated in 6 villages of Khammam Rural, Mudigonda and Konijerla Mandals.
Relief and rehabilitation during disasters
SECURE with the support of Center for world solidarity has initiated a project namely AP Floods 2006 to support the flood victims of 2006 Godavari floods. It is a year long programme aims at improving the capacities of the people living in 21 villages of Godavari basin to face the disasters in an effective manner. Under this project 2345 families have been provide relief material and support is being given to improve the agriculture, village artisans, house damage and health and sanitation.
